The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an organization that oversees and regulates the food industry in India. It is a self-governing body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Indian government. The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (FSS Act), is a consolidating statute related to food safety and regulation in India, established by FSSAI.
Every food business operator who manufactures, processes, stores, distributes or sells food must obtain an FSSAI Registration or License.
FSSAI Registration differs from FSSAI License in that FBOs should obtain the appropriate registration or license based on the size and nature of their business. It ensures that food products are subjected to quality checks, reducing food adulteration. It is head for registering and licensing Food Business Operators (FBO) in India, as well as establishing the rules and regulations for operating a food business in the country.
It's a 14-digit registration or licence number that appears on every food package. The 14-digit registration number contains information about the assembling state and the producer's licence. The purpose of this registration procedure is to make the FBO more accountable for maintaining the quality of the food products. Registration ( Small scale Business): Food Business with Turnover up to 12 Lakh Per Year
State License ( Medium scale Business): Food Business With Turnover More Than 12 Lakh per Year But Lower than 20 Cr
Central License ( Large scale Business): Food Business With Turnover More Than 20cr

Fssai Certification process
FSSAI registration begins with the submission of Form A (application for Registration) or Form B (application for State and Central License) to the Food and Safety Department, or by applying online through the FoSCoS portal. The required documents must be submitted with the application.
