BIS CERTIFICATION FOR STEEL WIRE FOR NIPPLES SPOKES

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.
To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.
Let’s take a closer look at IS 8564:1977 for steel wire for nipples for spokes.
This standard specifies the requirements for steel wires used in nipples for spokes.
The wire must be made from steel produced through the open-hearth, duplex, electric, basic oxygen, or a combination of these processes. Each ingot must have a sufficient discard to ensure that it is free of piping, segregation, and other harmful defects.
The ingots, blooms, or billets must be rough machined, chipped, ground, or otherwise prepared to remove any surface imperfection that could result in a defect in the finished wire. The wire must have a circular cross-section and be free from surface defects, piping, and harmful segregation.
Steel wire for nipples for spoke must be supplied in the specified size. General requirements for material supply must be in accordance with applicable standards, and the wire must be supplied in a drawn state.
TESTS
Tests shall be carried out in accordance with the method specified.
- Tensile test
- Bend test
- Hardness test
- Dump test
- Test for chemical requirements
Packing and Marking:
Each coil or wire must be compactly bound and fastened, and it must have a tag legibly marked with the name or manufacturer, type, and size of the wire. ISI marks may also be applied to the material.
The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The Bureau grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, production process, and quality control and testing capabilities during a visit to its manufacturing premises.

Conclusion:
If a product falls under the scope of the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme, All the manufacturers, importers, and foreign entities must obtain BIS ISI Certification. The Bureau may cancel the License if the product fails to meet certification requirements.
