BIS Extends Implementation Deadline for IS 16103 (Part 1):2025 till 21 July 2026
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued an important update for manufacturers and stakeholders dealing with LED modules for general lighting. As per the latest notification dated 01 January 2026, BIS has officially extended the last date of implementation of IS 16103 (Part 1):2025 / IEC 62031:2018.
Background of the Notification
Earlier, BIS had issued guidelines for the implementation of IS 16103 (Part 1):2025, aligned
with IEC 62031:2018, through its circular dated 09 September 2025. This standard is applicable
to safety requirements for LED modules used in general lighting.
Based on industry feedback and implementation considerations, BIS has now provided additional
time for compliance.
