BIS Extends Implementation Date of IS 18112 for Digital Television Receivers till 26 July 2026
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in coordination with the Ministry of Electronics and
Information Technology (MeitY), has announced a further extension in the implementation
date of IS 18112 — Digital Television Receiver for Satellite Broadcast Transmission
Specification.
This update provides additional compliance time for manufacturers and importers of digital
television receivers intended for satellite broadcast transmission.
Background of IS 18112 Implementation
IS 18112 was notified by MeitY under the Electronics and Information Technology Goods
(Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021, making BIS certification
mandatory for products covered under this standard.
Since its introduction, the implementation timeline has been revised multiple times to facilitate
smoother industry adoption.

Latest Update: Implementation Extended to 26 July 2026
As per MeitY’s Order dated 22 January 2026, the date of implementation of IS 18112 has now
been extended to 26 July 2026. BIS has confirmed that the Guidelines for Implementation of
IS 18112, issued earlier on 14 October 2025, will remain applicable, with only the
implementation date revised accordingly.
All other terms and conditions of the existing guidelines remain unchanged.

Digital Television Receivers for Satellite Broadcast Transmission
Manufacturers and importers dealing with such products must ensure BIS registration before
placing products on the Indian market after the revised implementation date.
