Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Extension Order for Copper Products (Wrought Copper Tubes for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Purposes) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

BIS Extension Order for Copper Products Quality Control (Wrought Copper Tubes for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Purposes)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an extension order titled the "Copper Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

Effective Dates:

Date of implementation for General (other than Micro and Small Enterprises): October 19, 2024.
Date of implementation for Small Enterprises: January 19, 2025.
Date of implementation for Micro Enterprises: April 19, 2025.

Goods or articles of Copper Products must adhere to Indian Standard IS 10773:1995 (Wrought Copper Tubes for Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning Purposes). They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Exceptions:

Micro enterprises and small enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), must conform to the specified Indian Standards.
This order does not apply to goods or articles intended for domestic manufacturing for export purposes

The Bureau will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for Copper Products.

Any person violating the provisions of this order shall face punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
