Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Extension Order for Copper Products (Wrought Copper Tubes for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Purposes) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has notified the Copper Products (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2026 through Gazette Notification S.O. 3503(E) dated 30 June 2026. The amendment grants a temporary exemption until 30 November 2026 for manufacturers importing Inner Grooved Copper Tubes (IS 10773:2025) for use in air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, subject to specified quantity limits. The exemption is capped at 50% of the average quantity imported during FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26, and manufacturers are required to maintain monthly import records and submit them to the concerned government authorities.
Goods or articles of Copper Products must adhere to Indian Standard IS 10773:1995 (Wrought Copper Tubes for Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning Purposes). They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for Copper Products.
Any person violating the provisions of this order shall face punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
