Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS) Quality Control Amendment Order 2024.
Amendment Order for the Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
OVERVIEW
It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Provided that nothing in this Order shall apply to Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS) Moulding and Extrusion Materials used for production of toco transducers.
The order applies specifically to Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS) goods or articles but excludes those intended for export.
It mandates that Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS) products conform to Indian Standard IS 17077 :2019 and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS) products.
Violations of this order will be subject to punishment under the provisions of the relevant Act./p>
