BIS QCO for the Air Cooler and Air Filters (Evaporative Air Coolers (Desert Coolers))

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a quality control order titled the "Air Cooler and Air Filters (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This order will come into effect six months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

According to the order, all goods or articles related to Air Coolers and Air Filters must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 3315:2019 for Evaporative Air Coolers (Desert Coolers). These products must bear the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

It's important to note that this Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export purposes.

Additionally, micro and small enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, are exempt from compliance for a specified period from the date of publication of the notification. Furthermore, enterprises registered under the 'Udyam portal' of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, with limited investment and turnover, are also exempt from this Order.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Air Cooler and Air Filters products covered under this Order.

Any individual found contravening the provisions of this order will face penalties as per the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
