Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes of polyester / polyolefin dual fibres) Quality Control Order, 2024.
Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes of polyester / polyolefin dual fibres)
OVERVIEW
For Small and Micro Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order will take effect nine months from the publication date.
This Order applies to fibre ropes made of polyester and polyolefin dual fibres. It does not apply to these goods if they are intended for export.

The fibre ropes of polyester and polyolefin dual fibres must meet the requirements of Indian Standard IS 17609:2021 and must display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will be the certifying and enforcing authority for these ropes.
