Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes Polyethylene 3- and 4 -strand ropes) Quality Control Order, 2024.
Ropes and Cordages (Fibre ropes Polyethylene 3- and 4 -strand ropes)
OVERVIEW
For Small and Micro Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order will come into force nine months from the publication date.
The Order applies to polyethylene fibre ropes in 3-strand and 4-strand configurations. It does not apply to these goods if they are intended for export.

These polyethylene fibre ropes must comply with Indian Standard IS 8674:2013 and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will act as the certifying and enforcing authority for these ropes.
