BIS QCO for Manila ropes IS 1084
The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2026. It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act 27 of 2006), the Order will come into effect nine months after its publication.
This Order applies specifically to textiles, namely Manila ropes, but does not cover products intended for export.
Textiles – Manila ropes must adhere to the Indian Standard IS 1084:2005 and display the Standard Mark, which is obtained under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for these products.
