Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Medical Textiles (Dental bib/Napkins) (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

BIS QCO for the Medical Textiles (Dental bib/Napkins)


The Ministry of Textiles has issued a Quality Control Order named "Medical Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2023," set to be effective from 1st April 2024, with a later implementation date of 1st October 2024 for Small and Micro Enterprises (SME).

This order applies specifically to goods or articles like Dental bib/Napkins, excluding those intended for export.

For compliance, Dental bib/Napkins must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 17354:2020 and display the Standard Mark through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme – I of Schedule – II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Dental bib/Napkins as outlined in this Order.

Violation of the provisions of this Order is subject to punishment in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
