BIS QCO for Alumina Calcined
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has issued a notification for Alumina Calcined (HS CODE - 28182010) due to its wide-ranging industrial applications, including ceramics, abrasives, and more.
To ensure safety and environmental protection, the BIS standard for Calcined alumina will be made mandatory.
Both locally produced and imported Alumina Calcined must comply with Indian Standard IS 17441 (Part 1): 2021. They should also carry the standard mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per Scheme-II of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The utilization of the standard mark is regulated by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, and the associated Rules and Regulations.
Adoption and implementation dates are pending, with a 6-month period from adoption for enforcement.
Comments on this notification can be submitted within 60 days from its issuance.
