OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order known as the Cables (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
Effective from August 1, 2020, this order applies to Cross-linked Polyethylene Insulated Sheathed Cables.
Goods or articles of Cross-linked Polyethylene Insulated Sheathed Cables must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 7098 (Part 3) : 1988, specifying Cross-Linked Polyethylene Insulated Thermoplastics Sheathed Cables Part 3 For Working Voltages from 66 kV Up to and Including 220 kV. They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
However, this order does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Cross-linked Polyethylene Insulated Sheathed Cables.
