BIS QCO for the Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes (Cycle - Rubber Tubes (Moulded or Jointed))

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently introduced the Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes (Quality Control) Order, 2023. This order will take effect six months from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

Goods or articles categorized as Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes are required to adhere to the specified Indian Standard 2415:2015 (Cycle - Rubber Tubes (Moulded or Jointed)) and display the Standard Mark. This necessitates obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Exceptions to this order include goods produced domestically for export.

For micro-enterprises, becomes effective twelve months from the publication date. Small enterprises, under the same order, must comply within nine months from the publication date.

The certifying and enforcing authority for Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes is the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Violation of this order is subject to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

Implementation Dates: Effective six months after its publication in the official gazette.
For small enterprises, per the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, it becomes effective after nine months, and for micro-enterprises, it applies after twelve months from the publication date.
