Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Cables (Elastomer Insulated Cables) (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
BIS QCO for the Cables (Elastomer Insulated Cables)
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order known as the Cables (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
Effective from August 1, 2020, this order applies to Elastomer Insulated Cables.
Goods or articles of Elastomer Insulated Cables must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 9968 (Part 2) : 2002, specifying Specification for Elastomer Insulated Cables Part 2 For Working Voltages form 3.3 kV Up to and Including 33 kV. They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
However, this order does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Elastomer Insulated Cables.
