Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Electric Ceiling Type Fans (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the "Electric Ceiling Type Fans (Quality Control) Order, 2023," scheduled to come into effect six months from the date of publication of this notification.
For Small Enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the order will be applicable nine months from the date of publication, and for Micro Enterprises, it will be effective twelve months from the date of publication.
Goods or articles falling under the category of Electric Ceiling Type Fans are required to adhere to the specified Indian Standard IS 374:2019 (Electric Ceiling Type Fans - Specification) and bear the Standard Mark. Manufacturers must obtain a license from the Bureau under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's important to note that this order excludes goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.
Additionally, goods produced domestically by enterprises registered under the "Udyam portal" of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, meeting specific financial criteria, are exempted.
The Bureau is designated as both the certifying and enforcing authority for Electric Ceiling Type Fans.
Any contravention of this order is subject to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
This regulatory measure aims to ensure the quality and safety of Electric Ceiling Type Fans in the market, fostering compliance with established standards for the benefit of consumers and industry stakeholders.
