BIS QCO for the Electrical Accessories (Cable Trunking and Ducting Systems for Electrical Installations)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order known as the Electrical Accessories (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

It will be effective six months from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

Goods or articles falling under Electrical Accessories must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 14927 (Part 2): 2001, specifically covering Cable Trunking and Ducting Systems for Electrical Installations. These goods shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as outlined in Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Exceptions include goods manufactured domestically for export.

Additionally, for small enterprises, as defined in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the order comes into force nine months from the date of publication. For micro-enterprises, it takes effect twelve months from the date of publication.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Electrical Accessories.

Non-compliance with this order can lead to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
