BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Ethylene Dichloride
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued a second Amendment Order, 2024, titled the Ethylene Dichloride (Quality Control) Order, 2021.
It shall come into force on the 12th day of March, 2025
This order mandates that goods or articles of Ethylene Dichloride must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 869:2020. They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Notably, this order does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Ethylene Dichloride goods or articles.
Any individual found contravening the provisions of this order will be subject to punishment under the relevant Act.
