Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Bureau of Indian Standards Kitchen Appliances (Hand-held Blenders) (Quality Control) Order, 2018.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the "Bureau of Indian Standards Kitchen Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2018," which will be in effect from May 1, 2019.
Under this order, Hand-held Blenders are required to conform to Indian Standard IS 302: Part 2: Section 14 (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances: Part 2 Particular requirements Section 14 Electric kitchen machines) and bear the Standard Mark. Manufacturers must obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to ensure compliance.
It is important to note that, for this order, Hand-held Blenders are applicable for import and manufacture for use within India.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as both the certifying and enforcing authority specifically for Hand-held Blenders
Any violation of this order is subject to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
This regulatory measure ensures the quality and safety of Hand-held Blenders in the market, promoting standardized practices and safeguarding consumers.
