BIS QCO for the Cables (Heavy Duty Electric Cables) - (Specification for PVC Insulated (Heavy Duty) Electric Cables Part 2 For Working Voltages from 3.3 kV up to and Including 11 kV)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order known as the Cables (Quality Control) Order, 2020.

Effective from August 1, 2020, this order applies to Heavy Duty Electric Cables.

Goods or articles of Heavy Duty Electric Cables must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 1554 (Part 2):1988, specifying Specification for PVC Insulated (Heavy Duty) Electric Cables Part 2 For Working Voltages from 3.3 kV up to and Including 11 kV. They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

However, this order does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Heavy Duty Electric Cables.
