BIS QCO for the Medical Textiles (Shoe covers)

This order applies specifically to goods or articles like Shoe covers, excluding those intended for export.

Self Help Groups (SHGs) are defined as small informal groups of 10 to 20 individuals who voluntarily come together with similar social and economic backgrounds. Their purpose is to promote savings habits among members and collectively raise and manage resources for mutual benefit. In hilly or tribal areas, smaller groups of a minimum of 5 members may also form into SHGs.

Provided that where any manufacturer certified by the Bureau, or any manufacturer who has applied to the Bureau for certification in respect of the goods or articles specified in the list of Schedule A to the principal Order, declares prior to the date 1st April, 2024 of the Schedule that their old stock, manufactured or imported prior to such date, does not bear the Standards Mark, such manufacturer or importer shall be permitted to sell, display, or offer to sell the declared stock up to 31st December, 2025.

For compliance, Shoe covers must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 17349:2020 and display the Standard Mark through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme – I of Schedule – II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Shoe covers as outlined in this Order.

Violation of the provisions of this Order is subject to punishment in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
