BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the p-Xylene
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Amendment Order, 2025, known as the p-Xylene (Quality Control) Order, 2021. It shall come into force on the 19th day of December 2025.
This order mandates that goods or articles of p-Xylene must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 17370:2020. They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Notably, this order does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for goods or articles of p-Xylene.
IMPOERTANT NOTES :
Any individual or entity found in violation of this order will be subject to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
