BIS QCO for the Fly Ash Based Products (Artificial Lightweight Aggregate for Concrete – Sintered Fly Ash Coarse Aggregate)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced the "Fly Ash Based Products (Quality Control) Order, 2023,” This order will come into effect after its publication in the Official Gazette.

Under this order, goods or articles categorized as Fly Ash Based Products must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 9142 (Part 2):2018, specifically addressing Artificial Lightweight Aggregate for Concrete – Sintered Fly Ash Coarse Aggregate. These products are required to bear the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme I of Schedule II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

An exception is made for goods or articles intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for the standards related to Fly Ash Based Products.

Any individual found contravening the provisions of this order is subject to punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

This regulatory measure aims to ensure the quality and conformity of Fly Ash Based Products in the market, fostering standardized practices for the benefit of consumers and the construction industry.
