BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane)
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has issued the Amendment Order "Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane) (Quality Control) Order, 2021," slated to take effect on November 20, 2023.
This order applies to goods or articles, specifically Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane), and extends to those intended for export.
Goods falling under this category must conform to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 4566:2020 and bear the Standard Mark. Manufacturers are required to obtain a license from the Bureau under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau is designated as both the certifying and enforcing authority for goods or articles falling under the category of Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane).
Any contravention of the provisions outlined in this order is subject to penalties under the provisions of the relevant Act.
This regulatory measure aims to ensure the quality and conformity of Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane) in the market, promoting standardized practices and safeguarding consumers and the petrochemical industry.
