Important notification regarding the Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery and Gold Artefacts and valid for the Indian Market.
BIS order on Hallmarking
OVERVIEW
The Central Government hereby issues the orders listed below to further amend the Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery and Gold Artefacts Order, 2020 following consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards and in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 as the Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery and Gold Artefacts (Amendment) Order, 2023 and it becomes operative from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
Note: No person shall, after 31st March, 2023, sell or display or offer to sell any Gold jewellery or Gold Artefacts unless it is hallmarked in accordance with the standards specified in IS 1417:2016 as amended by notification number Ref: HQ-PUB014/1/2020-PUB-BIS (191), dated the 7th July, 2021, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4, dated the 15th July, 2021.
