BIS CERTIFICATION FOR HIGH ALUMINA CEMENT
IS 6452:1989

IS 6452: 1989 covers high alumina cement for structural use. This standard specifies the manufacturing requirements of high alumina cement (HAC) and the specific requirements for its use as a structural building material in our country's colder regions (constantly 18°C or below). Its application as a refractory cement is not covered.

This cement shall be produced from aluminous and calcareous materials by fusing or sintering, and the resulting clinker shall be ground to produce cement meeting this standard. Additional than water, no other materials may be added during the cement grinding process. The total alumina content (ALz03) determined in line with IS 4032: 1985 shall not be less than 32 percent by mass.

When tested according to the methods specified, high alumina cement shall meet the physical requirements specified in the standard. The manufacturer must ensure that the cement meets the requirements of this standard. A laboratory shall be adequately maintained, in which the various tests shall be carried out according to the methods specified in the standard.

Packing of high alumina cement shall be done as per IS 6452:1989. Labeling and marking shall be done in accordance with IS 6452:1989. The BIS Standard Mark (ISI Mark) shall be printed on each bag or drum of high alumina cement or on the label applied to it, provided that the material in each bag or package to which the mark is thus applied meets the specification. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The BIS grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and production process.
