BIS CERTIFICATION FOR PHOSPHOROUS OXYCHLORIDE
IS 11657:2020

IS 11657: 2020 covers Phosphorous Oxychloride, Technical. This standard specifies the requirements and sampling and testing methods for phosphorus oxychloride, technical.

The material must be a colourless to pale yellow fuming liquid with an irritating odour. When tested as per the method specified, the material must also meet the requirements specified in the standard. Phosphorus oxychloride is widely used as a catalyst and chlorinating agent in the dyestuff, pesticide, and pharmaceutical industries.

Test shall be carried out in accordance with the method specified.

• Relative density test
• Determination of phosphorus oxychloride

Packing and Marking:

Packing and marking must be done as per IS 11657: 2020. The material must be packed in polyethylene-lined drums, high-density polyethylene carboys, or clean glass carboys. The containers must be labelled with the information as specified in the standard.

The ISI Certification Mark shall be marked on each container, provided that the material so marked meets the requirements of the specification. To use a standard mark (ISI Mark), the manufacturer must obtain a BIS licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards. The BIS issues a licence based on a successful evaluation of the manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and manufacturing process.

Conclusion:

If a product falls under the scope of the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme, All the manufacturers, importers, and foreign entities must obtain BIS ISI Certification. The Bureau may cancel the License if the product fails to meet certification requirements.
