BIS CERTIFICATION FOR SODIUM TRIPOLYPHOSPHATE ANHYDROUS
IS 6100:1984

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.

To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.

Let's take a closer look at IS 6100:1984 for Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Anhydrous, Technical.

IS 6100:1984 covers Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Anhydrous, Technical. This standard specifies the requirements and the sampling and testing methods for sodium tripolyphosphate, anhydrous, technical, for use as a detergent builder and deflocculant.

Sodium phosphate, particularly polyphosphate, is a versatile chemical. Sodium tripolyphosphate is the newest member of the important sodium phosphate family.

Sodium tripolyphosphate is made by neutralizing the phosphoric acid produced either by wet or thermal processes. It is composed of one mole of monosodium orthophosphate and two moles of disodium orthophosphate that are intimately mixed to produce a high yield of the desired product. The material must primarily consist of sodium tripolyphosphate. It must be a white, uniform, free-flowing powder, free from visible impurities.

When tested according to the method specified, the material must meet the standard's requirements.

TESTS

The test shall be carried out in accordance with the method prescribed for the determination of the following:

  • Moisture %
  • Matter insoluble in water %
  • Phosphorus %
  • pH value
  • Iron %
  • Tripolyphosphate content
  • Chlorides
  • Bulk density
  • Fluorides

Packing and Marking:

Packing and Marking shall be done in accordance with IS 6100:1984. The material shall be packed in clean and sound paper bags, and each bag shall be suitably marked with the information as specified in the standard.

The Standard Mark (ISI Mark) shall be marked on each bag provided that the material so marked meets all specification requirements. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The BIS grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and production process.
