BIS CERTIFICATION FOR SOFT MAGNETIC IRON RODS, BARS FLATS & SECTIONS
IS 11947:1987

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.

To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.

Let's take a closer look at IS 11947:1987 for Soft magnetic iron rod, bars flats and sections.

This standard specifies the requirements for cold drawn soft magnetic iron rods, bars, flats, and sections primarily intended for electromagnetic applications in electrical machinery and apparatus, such as relays, cores, and so on.

General requirements for the supply of cold drawn soft magnetic iron rods, bars, flats, and sections shall be in accordance with applicable standards. The chemical composition must conform to the specified standard, and the material must be in bright, cold drawn and annealed condition.

The material's composition must be uniform, and it must have a uniform micro and macrostructure that is round, homogeneous, and free of physical defects or flaws both externally and internally. Rods, bars, flats, and sections must be smooth and flat, straight and true, uniform cross-sections, and free of physical flaws. The surface of the rods, bars, flats, and sections must be bright, clean, and smooth, with no scale, rust, pitting, dirt, or other surface irregularities. The surface must be electroplating-ready. Material intended for cold heading must have an extrusion finish. The material must be tested to ensure that it complies with the specified standard.

Packing and Marking:
