BIS CERTIFICATION FOR STAINLESS STEEL WIRE
IS 6528:1995

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.

To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.

Let's take a closer look at IS 6528: 1995 for stainless steel wire.

This standard specifies the general corrosion resistance requirements for stainless steel wire. This standard does not apply to wire used in the production of welding electrodes. IS 8910: 1978 specifies the general requirements for material supply.

Unless otherwise agreed in the order, the processes used in the manufacture of the steel and the product are left to the manufacturer's discretion. The wire's surface must be smooth and free of harmful surface defects. Steel wire can be supplied in annealed form. The chemical composition of the base steel must meet standard requirements.

Tests

  • Tensile Test
  • Reverse Rend Test
  • Torsion Test
  • Wrapping Test
  • Dimensional tolerance

Packing and marking:

Each coil or bundle of wire must be suitably bound and packed as agreed between the purchaser and the manufacturer. Each coil or bundle of wire must be legibly marked with the following information: the source of manufacture, the steel designation, the condition of supply and finish, the wire diameter, the cast or batch number, and the date of manufacture. The Standard Mark may also be applied to the material. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark. The Bureau grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, production process, and quality control and testing capabilities during a visit to its manufacturing premises.
