BIS CERTIFICATION FOR WHITE PORTLAND CEMENT
IS 8042:2015

IS 8042:2015 covers White Portland Cement. This standard specifies the manufacturing process and the chemical and physical requirements of white Portland cement.

While Portland cement shall be produced by intimately grinding Portland cement clinker with an appropriate proportion of natural or chemical gypsum to produce cement capable of meeting this standard, and at the time of grinding, no material other than gypsum or water or both, and not more than one percent of air-entraining agents shall be added.

When tested according to the methods specified, white Portland cement shall meet the chemical and physical requirements specified in the standard. White Portland cement shall be stored, sampled, tested, and rejected in accordance with lS 269: 1989 for 33 grade ordinary Portland cement. The manufacturer must ensure that the cement meets the requirements of this standard. A laboratory shall be adequately maintained, in which the various tests shall be carried out according to the methods specified in the standard.

2. Loss of ignition
3. Fineness
4. Setting time
5. Degree of whiteness
6. Compressive Strength
7. Transverse Strength Test

Packing of White Portland Cement shall be done as per IS 8042:2015. Labelling and marking shall be done in accordance with IS 8042:2015. The BIS Standard Mark (ISI Mark) shall be printed on each bag or drum of White Portland Cement or on the label applied to it, provided that the material in each bag or package to which the mark is thus applied meets the specification. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The BIS grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control and testing capabilities, and production process.
