QCO Update for mandatory BIS certification for machines and electrical equipment

Important update regarding mandatory BIS certification for machines and electrical equipment and their assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
OVERVIEW
The central government issued a QCO mandating BIS certification for machines and electrical equipment and their assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components. The Central Government, after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards, issues the Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2022, considering it essential or expedient in the public interest.
According to this QCO, machines and electrical equipment and their assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components listed in QCO must conform to the corresponding Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. The Bureau shall be certifying and enforcing authority for the machinery or electrical equipment as the case may be.
