QCO ORDER FOR BIS CERTIFICATION OF "SAFETY GLASS" (Ministry Of Commerce and Industry)

Important update on BIS certification for manufacturers/importers of "Safety Glass” for the Indian market. It is also affected from 24th March 2023, from the date of publication.
BIS Order Notification for “Safety Glass”
OVERVIEW
Safety Glass, Order issued through a gazette notification dated 24th March 2023.
The Bureau of Indian Standard (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) in India had come up with the regulation for “Safety Glass”.
The Central Government, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, decides that it is necessary or expedient to issue the Safety Glass (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
According to this Order, "Safety Glass" shall have to comply with the Indian Standard and bear the standard mark (ISI) under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II (Conformity Assessment) Regulations 2018, and cannot be produced, traded/sold, stocked, or imported unless they bear the ISI Mark.
The effective date for implementation of this order is 24th March, 2023.
