OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued an Amendment to the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021".

This amendment specifically pertains to CCTV Cameras and their compulsory registration requirements.

According to the amendment, CCTV Cameras are now included as S. No. 41 in the Schedule of the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021". The essential requirements for CCTV Cameras as per Indian Standard IS 13252: Part 1: 2010 are specified.

The provisions of this order will apply to CCTV Cameras for conforming to the corresponding Essential Requirement(s) specified in the amendment. This application will begin six months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.

Under Scheme II of BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations, 2018, the submission of test reports from BIS recognized labs is necessary to obtain a license to use the Standard Mark.

Securing a CCTV system involves various key areas of testing and security measures, including physical security, access control, network security, software security, and penetration testing to assess resistance to cyberattacks and address vulnerabilities. These measures are essential to protect sensitive information and ensure the effective operation of the CCTV system.
