BIS Amendment Order for the Agro Textiles (Crop Cover and Fruit Skirting Bags)

OVERVIEW

By the recent directive from the Ministry of Textiles, the Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024 has been promulgated and is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2024.

This order is specifically applicable to goods or articles, namely Crop Cover and Fruit Skirting Bags. However, it is important to note that this order excludes items intended for export.

The specified goods, Crop Cover and Fruit Skirting Bags, are mandated to adhere to the relevant Indian Standard IS 16718: 2021 (Textiles—Polypropylene Spun Bonded Non-Woven Crop Cover and Fruit Skirting Bags for Agriculture and Horticulture Applications—Specification).

Additionally, they must bear the Standard Mark obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following the guidelines outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for the mentioned goods, Crop Cover and Fruit Skirting Bags.

Any individual found in violation of the stipulations outlined in this Order will be subject to punishment in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
