QCO ORDER FOR MANDATORY BIS CERTIFICATION OF "ETHYLENE GLYCOL"

Dear Reader,
Important update on mandatory BIS certification for manufacturers/importers of "Ethylene Glycol” for the Indian market. It will extend to go into effect from the 28th March, 2023 to 28th of June, 2023.
BIS Order Notification for “Ethylene Glycol”
OVERVIEW
"Ethylene Glycol, Order article issued through a gazette notification dated 23rd March 2023.
The Bureau of Indian Standard (Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers) in India had come up with the regulation for “Ethylene Glycol - IS 5295:1985”.
The Central Government, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, decides that it is necessary or expedient to issue the Ethylene Glycol (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
According to this Order, "Ethylene Glycol" shall have to comply with the Indian Standard and bear the standard mark (ISI) under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II (Conformity Assessment) Regulations 2018, and cannot be produced, traded/sold, stocked, or imported unless they bear the ISI Mark.
"The effective date for implementation of this order is 28th of June, 2023."
