Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Ethylene Glycol Amendment Order (Quality Control), 2020.
BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Ethylene Glycol
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has enacted the Amendment Order "Ethylene Glycol (Quality Control) Order, 2020," effective from June 28, 2023.
This order applies to goods or articles, specifically Ethylene Glycol, with an exception for those intended for export.
Ethylene Glycol goods must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 5295:1985 and bear the Standard Mark. Manufacturers are required to obtain a license from the Bureau under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Any contravention of the provisions outlined in this order is subject to penalties under the provisions of the relevant Act.
This regulatory measure aims to ensure the quality and conformity of Ethylene Glycol in the market, fostering standardized practices for the benefit of consumers and the chemical industry.
