BIS QCO for the Fire Survival Cable (Thermosetting Insulated, Fire Survival Cables for working voltages upto and including 1100 V AC and 1500 V DC)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced a Quality Control Order known as the Solar DC Cable and Fire Survival Cable (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

This order will become effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.

Goods or articles falling under Fire Survival Cable must comply with the relevant Indian Standard 17505 (Part 1): 2021 (Thermosetting Insulated, Fire Survival Cables for working voltages upto and including 1100 V AC and 1500 V DC) and carry the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as outlined in Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

This order does not apply to goods intended for domestic manufacturing for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Fire Survival Cable.

Violation of this order's provisions can lead to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

NOTE: Any person who violates the provisions of this order will be punished in accordance with the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.
