BIS Amendment Order for the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Aluminium and Aluminium alloy Ingots and Castings)
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Mines has issued the "Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys Amendment Order, 2024 of (Quality Control) Order, 2023," which will become effective three months from its publication date.
This Order focuses on ensuring the quality of aluminum and aluminum alloy ingots and castings, but it does not apply to items meant for export.
To comply, these goods must meet Indian Standard IS 617:1994 and carry the Standard Mark. This mark can only be used under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will oversee certification and enforcement of these quality standards for aluminum and aluminum alloy ingots and castings.
