Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for Captafol (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

OVERVIEW
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has issued a notification regarding Captafol (HS CODE - 29308000), a fungicide widely employed for controlling various fungal plant diseases, excluding powdery mildews, and certain seed- and soil-borne organisms.
In order to safeguard human health and the environment, it is imperative to establish mandatory standards for Captafol. Locally manufactured or imported Captafol must adhere to the Indian Standard (IS 10300:2023) and display the standard mark, obtained through licensing from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in accordance with Scheme-II of Schedule-II under the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The utilization of the standard mark is subject to the provisions stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, and its accompanying Rules and Regulations. The certifying and enforcement authority for this standard shall be the Bureau of Indian Standards.
The proposed date for adoption is yet to be determined, with the anticipated date for the standard's enforcement being six months following its adoption.
The final date for submitting comments on this notification is within a 60-day period from the date of its issuance.
