BIS Amendment Order for the Air Conditioner and its Related Parts, Hermetic Compressor and Temperature Sensing Controls (Finned type Heat Exchanger for Room Air Conditioner)

OVERVIEW

Indian Standard IS 11329:2018 which specifies Finned type Heat Exchanger for Room Air Conditioner.

This order shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

This amendment, effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, introduces several provisions:

1. Exemption for Hermetic Compressors exceeding 7000 W (2 TR) capacity for one year.
2. Exemption for importing 200 units annually for research and development purposes, provided they are not sold commercially.
3. Exemption for domestically manufactured or imported goods before the amendment's commencement, with sales permitted until March 31, 2024, subject to declaration to the Bureau.
4. Allowance for the sale of up to 6,000 hermetic compressors and heat exchangers annually for maintenance and sales by certified manufacturers for three years from the amendment's commencement, with a declaration requirement.
5. Exemption for hermetic compressors and heat exchangers imported by certified manufacturers for export-oriented manufacturing, specified in the export order.

These provisions aim to facilitate industry compliance while promoting research, development, and international trade in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and related parts.
