Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Primary Aluminium ingots for remelting) Amendment Order, 2024 of (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
BIS Amendment Order for the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Primary Aluminium ingots for remelting)
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Mines has issued the "Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys Amendment Order, 2024 of (Quality Control) Order, 2023," which will become effective from 01.12.2024.
This Order focuses on ensuring the quality of Primary Aluminium ingots for remelting, but it does not apply to items meant for export.
To comply, these goods must meet Indian Standard 2590:1987 and carry the Standard Mark. This mark can only be used under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will oversee certification and enforcement of these quality standards for aluminum and aluminum alloy ingots and castings.
