BIS QCO for the Automobile Wheel Rim Component (Automotive Vehicles Wheel Rims for Two and Three-Wheeled Vehicles Part 1: Light Alloy Wheel Rims - Method of Tests and Requirements)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has recently issued an amendment known as the "Automobile Wheel Rim Component (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023." This order will be effective upon its publication in the Official Gazette.

According to the modifications made in the Automobile Wheel Rim Component (Quality Control) Amendment Order of 2022, dated June 8, 2022, goods or articles falling under the category of Wheel Rim for 2W (Two-Wheelers), 3W (Three-Wheelers), erickshaws, and e-carts must adhere to the prescribed Indian Standard IS: 16192 (Part 1) - "Automotive Vehicles Wheel Rims for Two and Three-Wheeled Vehicles Part 1: Light Alloy Wheel Rims - Method of Tests and Requirements."

These products should bear the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau by Scheme-I of Schedule II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The certifying and enforcing authority for these goods or articles, specifically in the Wheel Rim categories of 2W, 3W, erickshaws, and e-carts, will be the Bureau

It is emphasized that any individual contravening the stipulations outlined in this Order will be subject to penalties as per the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (Act No. 11 of 2016).
