IS 10238:2001

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to use standard ISI Mark and sell products in the Indian market.

To obtain BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must comply with the specified Indian standard.

Let's take a closer look at IS 10238:2001 for Fasteners – Threaded Steel Fasteners – Step Bolts for Steel Structures.

This standard specifies the requirements for step bolts used to gain access to the top of steel structures, including transmission towers. Each bolt shall be supplied with two hexagon nuts. For safety reasons, when using step bolts to gain access to the top of the structure, the maximum total weight of a person, including bolts, nuts, tools, and tackles, should not exceed 150 kg.
