QCO Update regarding mandatory BIS certification for Viscose Staple Fibres

Important update regarding mandatory BIS certification for Viscose Staple Fibres.

OVERVIEW

The central government issued a QCO mandating BIS certification for viscose staple fibres. The Central Government, after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards, issues the Viscose Staple Fibres (Quality Control) Order, 2022, considering it essential or expedient in the public interest.

According to this QCO, Viscose Staple Fibres must conform to the corresponding Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. IS 17266:2019 covers Viscose Staple Fibres. Viscose Staple Fibres (Quality Control) Order, 2022, is attached below.
