QCO UPDATE REGARDING BIS CERTIFICATION FOR BICYCLES - RETRO REFLECTIVE DEVICES

Important update regarding the BIS certification for Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices.
QCO for BIS certification on Retro Reflector Condition Extended
OVERVIEW
The central government issued a QCO for BIS certification for Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices. The Central Government, after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards, issues the Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices (Quality Control) Order, 2023, considering it is necessary or expedient in the public interest.
According to this QCO, Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices conform to the corresponding Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. IS/ISO 6742-2:2015 covers Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices. Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices (Quality Control) Order, 2023, is attached below.
As per the order, “The effected date of implementation of this order has been extended from 1 January 2023 to 1 July 2023”
This order shall apply to goods or articles specified in column (1) of the Table 1 and Table 2, but nothing herein shall apply to said goods or articles meant for export.
NOTE: This Order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016(11 of 2016).
