Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for Electrical Appliances for Kitchen (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances Particular requirements - toasters, grills, roasters and similar appliances) (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently introduced a new Quality Control Order, officially titled the "Electrical Appliances for Kitchen (Quality Control) Order, 2023."
It shall become effective six months after the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
According to this directive, all Electrical Appliances for the Kitchen must comply with the Indian Standard 302 (Part 2/Sec 9): 2009, specifically concerning the (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances Particular requirements - toasters, grills, roasters and similar appliances).
To demonstrate compliance, these appliances should bear the Standard Mark, which is granted under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following the guidelines outlined in Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's important to note that this order does not pertain to goods or articles produced within the country for the purpose of export.
For micro-enterprises, as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the order will be effective twelve months after its publication. In the case of small enterprises, as defined under the same clauses of the aforementioned Act, the order will be in force nine months after publication.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for Electrical Appliances for Kitchen under this order.
Any individual found in contravention of the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
