This order will come into effect six months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Under this order, goods or articles categorized as Miscellaneous Steel Products must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 15155:2020 for Bar or Wire Wrapped Steel Cylinder Pipes with Mortar Lining and Coating Including Specials - specifications. These products are required to bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Importantly, this order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export purposes.

Regarding the timeline for compliance, micro enterprises and small enterprises, as defined in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, will have different timelines for compliance. Micro enterprises will need to comply twelve months from the date of publication, while small enterprises will have nine months from the date of publication.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has been designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles covered under this order. Non-compliance with the provisions of this order will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
