Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Steel and Steel Products (Specification for Tinned Steel Wire for Banding of Armatures and Rotors: Part II Specific Requirements for magnetic banding wires) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024, exercising powers conferred by sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). This Order supersedes the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020, and comes into effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette, except for matters conducted prior to this supersession.
Under this Order, applicable to steel and steel products, specifically the Specification for Tinned Steel Wire for Banding of Armatures and Rotors: Part II Specific Requirements for magnetic banding wires, domestically manufactured steel and steel products conforming to any other specification required by foreign buyers for export are exempted.
Each steel and steel product specified under this Order must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standards 8510 (Part II): 1977 effective immediately upon implementation, and be accompanied by a Test Certificate with the Standard Mark issued by a certified manufacturer under the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Furthermore, goods and articles meeting the specifications must bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme – I of Schedule – II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for compliance with this Order.
Non-compliance with any provision of this Order is punishable under section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
Any amendments or revisions to the Indian Standards specified herein by the Bureau of Indian Standards shall be applicable to this Order from the date of publication by the Bureau.
