In a recent notification dated January 16, 2025, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has granted an extension for battery producers to submit their Annual Returns for the financial year 2023-24. The new deadline has been extended to March 31, 2025.

This extension follows a request from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which initially sought more time to facilitate the filing process. The Ministry had already extended the original deadline of June 30, 2024, to December 31, 2024, through previous orders issued on November 12, 2024, and July 10, 2024. However, in light of further deliberations and in accordance with sub-rule (6) of rule 13 of the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022, the Ministry has now approved an additional extension.

With this decision, battery producers now have until March 31, 2025, to submit their Annual Returns for FY 2023-24, providing more time for compliance under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022.

This order comes into effect immediately and has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority. Producers are encouraged to ensure timely submission to avoid any potential penalties or non-compliance issues.
