- Through a barcode or QR code printed on the plastic packaging.
- In the product information brochure.
- By printing a unique number on the plastic packaging as issued under applicable laws.
- Producers, importers, or brand owners are required to provide specific product information on plastic packaging starting from 1st July, 2025. The information can be provided in the following ways:
- Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Oversight:
- The producer, importer, or brand owner must inform the CPCB about the publication of the barcode/QR code, brochure, or unique number.
- The CPCB will maintain and update a list of these producers, importers, or brand owners on its website every quarter.
- Penalty for Non-compliance:
- Any person failing to comply with these rules or contravening their provisions will be subject to penalties as per Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
